Good food net sends by mail

LABOUR MP for Huddersfield, Barry Sheerman, is trying to establish a nationwide network of producers with high welfare and production standards to supply consumers with food by mail order.

Mr Sheerman, said: "There is a growing demand for direct selling of food and a mail order industry working to next-day delivery. Combining the two ideas is, therefore, a natural progression."

He wants to set up a database of food producers who have the Soil Associations organic standard, an accredited welfare standard such as the RSPCAs Freedom Foods or who can vouch that their animals have been reared naturally. &#42
