Goodbye haggis?
HAGGIS could become the latest victim of plans by the Food Standards Agency to outlaw the use of sheep intestines because of a theoretical BSE risk.
Sausage makers have been up in arms about the proposal for some time, but it has now emerged that some larger-sized haggis could also be affected.
The agency has asked officials in Brussels to consider introducing a ban on the use of sheep intestines because of a possible link between scrapie and BSE. *
He move has been criticised by the Scottish National Party, which suggested it would be "officialdom gone mad".
