Grain chaser bin meets demand for big capacity
A HIGH capacity, low ground pressure grain chaser bin has been introduced by Ken Wootton Trailers.
Tandem axled, it has been designed to match the output of todays larger combines.
Shod on 700/45×22.5 flotation tyres, the bin exerts 16psi ground pressure when fully loaded and, at 14t capacity, is enough to accept two grain tank loads from most combines, says the firm. There are plans to introduce a smaller, 10t model later in the year.
Key to the chaser bins high capacity is a 35cm (14in) diameter discharge auger, which is said will empty the bins contents in three minutes.
The bin uses a self-contained hydraulic system, with twin hydraulic pumps and two 20hp motors driving the auger sections, one for the discharge auger, the other for the hopper auger. Both are controlled electrically from the tractor cab.
Discharge height for the auger is 4.2m (13.8ft) and is enough to reach into large goods vehicle bulk trailers. When not unloading, the auger folds into the top of the hopper and can be used to recirculate grain if required.
Woottons grain chaser bin costs £21,000. *
