Grain market update
Wednesdays trading – 10 September 1997
UK futures followed sterling and fell 50p/tonne. The fall reflects the lacklustre shipping market rather than the demand by consumption in the spot month. Premiums of £4/£5 per tonne available in September and October for Biscuit wheat give a spot valuation of £85/£86 per tonne ex farm with feed wheat valued at £80/£82 per tonne ex farm.
Chicago finished slightly higher following a late rally in Soybeans and Pakistan announcing a tender for 160,000 mt US wheat next week.
