Grapes ‘rotting on the vine’ in Kosovo

KOSOVOS agriculture has been ravaged by the war, reports the Financial Times detailing the fate of a winery on the outskirts of Rahovec, in the heart of the province.

In what was formerly the premier wine-producing area of the former Yugoslavia, the grapes are rotting on the vines.

There are no chemicals left for spraying, tractors and other equipment have been removed by the Serbs, and landmines pose a risk.
