Green light for AI services

AI SERVICES will be allowed to resume within the foot-and-mouth infected areas of Devon, Worcs, Shropshire, Herefordshire and Glos, according to Genus.

The company received licences from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) last week, allowing it to operate in these areas, according to dairy genetics regional director Drew Sloan.

"All areas south of Manchester, except the Brecon Beacons, have a full AI service available to them.

"NMR data on more than 2000 herds show that producers using technician services have shorter calving intervals than the DIY AI average at all yield levels." &#42
