Grizzly most powerful ATV available – Yamaha

WITH a 595cc petrol engine, Yamaha claims its new "Grizzly" is the most powerful ATV available.

Physically much larger than the firms previous flagship – the Kodiak 400 – the new machine is aimed at demand for larger and more powerful machines.

Transmission comprises a new automatic belt drive system which utilises a centrifugal clutch and a one-way clutch behind the primary belt pulley. Unlike other systems which use the belt as a clutch, the belt drive is permanently engaged with, claims Yamaha, improved engine braking, belt slippage and increased life being the result.

The Grizzly also features electronically selected two- or four-wheel-drive, engaged via a handlebar mounted button. Speed range is selectable with a standard high speed and a low range available when extra pulling power is required.

A fan-assisted oil cooler designed to maintain correct operating temperatures is fitted to the 37hp, single-cylinder, 595cc air-cooled engine. Electric start is standard as is a decompressor to assist with starting when muscle is called for. &#42
