Growers discover overshoot figures confirmed

SCOTLANDS arable area overshoot for 2001 has been confirmed at 4.44%, down from the provisional estimate of 5.2% but higher than last years 2.25%.

This translates into a scaleback of 4.25% on area aid payments for each hectare claimed. Allowing for 2.5% modulation, cereal growers in lowland areas will get £202.78/ha (£82.06/acre), while those on the hills will receive £186.33/ha (£75.41/acre). Oilseed rape will attract £276.39/ha (£111.85/acre) in the lowlands, and £227.52/ha (£92.08/acre) in the hills.

Growers are also due a further top-up from agrimoney compensation (worth £5-10ha depending on crop) to offset the effects of the strong £ on aid payments in 1999, based on that years IACS claims.
