Happy 20th birthday party with a red nose flavour…
GLOUCS Farm Womens Club is 20-years-old and just goes from strength to strength under the leadership of Phyllis Charter, Sue Baber and Ann Littleton.
The birthday party was such a happy, enjoyable occasion, everyone, husbands especially, enjoyed the camaraderie and good food. They all brought their own drinks so it was amusing to watch the arrival of members with their favourite tipple packed in shopping baskets.
Lord Dennis Carter, government Chief Whip in the House of Lords, was the guest speaker and spoke to us of the latest news from Brussels relating to agricultural policy as well as his experiences in the Upper House. As it was Red Nose Day his Lordship was a great sport, wearing one in exchange for donations to Comic Relief.
