Haskins to step down from Express Dairies

LORD Haskins, the governments rural recovery coordinator, is to step down as chairman of Express Dairies.

The Labour peer said he would retire in early 2002. He has been non-executive chairman of Express Dairies since its demerger in 1998.

Lord Haskins said: It has long been my intention to step down from my two public company chairmanships before I reached my 65th birthday.

The company has named Sir David, who was president of the National Farmers Union from 1991-98, as Lord Haskins replacement.

At the same time, Peter Cawdron, a non-executive director since 1999, will be appointed Deputy Chairman.

Mr Cawdron, is currently a non-executive director of a number of companies including Compass Group, Capita Group and Christian Salvesen.
