Stockman shortage?
OVER the past three years, we have searched in vain for a new stockman to work with suckler cows, beef animals and sheep.
It seems there is a severe shortage of available skilled personnel.
Is this because people are afraid to move from current positions or is it, as I fear, that there is a shortage of skilled stockmen within the industry?
Off-road request
I AM researching the possiblity of opening an off-road centre in the M5 Gloucestershire/M50 Hereford corridor.
Will any landowners with minimum of 15ha, road access, minimum three miles from housing and water supply, please
get in touch.
Feed fund cards
FOR those of us farmers and smallholders who are lucky enough to be OK for this winter (touch wood) – please spare a thought for those who have been on/are still on movement restrictions.
They, of course, have been unable to sell animals, are overstocked, have had no income coming in.
Their animal feed is running out – and they have been unable to even make silage because the animals have had to stay in the fields.
Some of us are trying to raise money for the Winter Feed Fund – and one of the things I am doing is selling Christmas cards.
These are of a Lincolnshire Longwool ewe and her little lamb, the message inside says A Christmas wish for peace and healing in our countryside – and a pack of 5
cards costs 5 (which includes p&p).
Every penny from these cards will be going to the Feed Fund, so please help and buy even one packet!

Missing pig parts
HOW many pig producers have taken pigs to be slaughtered for their own use, and come home without the liver, heart and head, being told the liver is in the skip?
How can we overcome this illegal act by the butcher; how
can we prove him wrong?
Cruel attack on Ohio dairy farm
I HAVE a sad, but true story that Id like to share with your readers.
My husband, son and I own a fifth-generation dairy farm in the United States.
Prior to last June, we had a healthy, well-producing herd.
That changed dramatically when three individuals came on to our property and beat our cows with a baseball bat, wood and a folding chair, and cut them with something.
Our once-beautiful, docile animals were now hurt physically and mentally.
They suffered cuts, contusions and severe mental anguish.
The three guys were arrested and charged with felony vandalism and trespassing. Court date is scheduled for January.
I have a bad feeling they wont be properly punished.
Id like to know if this act has happened anywhere else and what happened to the perpetrators. If you are interested in this story, please feel freeto contact me.
Thank you for your time. Any help would be appreciated.
