Hay or silage was the dilemma at Wythes Farm, Kirkbymoorside, North Yorks, last week as the weather forecasters predicted rain. Having decided to produce round bale silage, which are sometimes less easy to sell than hay, it remained warm and dry for the rest of the week. Hopefully, it will become easier to source store cattle for finishing this winter otherwise there could be rather a lot of round bales of silage going spare at the farm.
