A TOP price of 2450gns came for the January-born heifer calf Almondene Storm Avis at the Pic and Mix sale of Holstein Friesians at Carlisle.
Consigned by F R Lawson and Son, Preston, Lancs, this fashionably-bred Maughlin Storm daughter has a maternal sister by Boulet Charles that made 8500gns at the 1995 Black and White sale.
She has a Ped Index 1063, PIN +£91, ITEM +£98 and is out of a Prelude dam tracing back to the great Hanoverhill Astro Anna cow.
"This claf showed herself superbly in the ring and deserved the top price," said auctioneer Edward Brown. Buyers were Messrs Wilson for their Petteril herd in Cumbria.
Cumbrian farmers J J and * J Bushby paid 1650gns for Hunday Fatal Light, a June 1997-bred heifer from E Moffitt and Son and out of a milky Prelude dam with a heifer lactation of 10,000kg.
