sells at 1500gns

THE Duke of Wellingtons Stratfield Saye Farms, Reading paid the top price of 1500gns for the junior male champion at the Hereford Cattle Societys autumn show and sale at Leominster.

The 18-month-old Dendor 1 Poacher was from Denis Jones, Newtown, Powys and weighed 740kg.

Next highest male bid came from T R Dyke and Sons, Llandrindod Wells, regular supporters of Hereford sales. It paid 900gns for the reserve senior bull champion, Clipston Paladin. This two-year-old bull was consigned by R G Westaway and Son, Market Harborough.

The overall champion, Chapelton 1 Polo from James Biggar, Castle Douglas, was unsold.

The 17 heifers averaged £725. Top call was 1250gns from Rother Valley Country Park, Sheffield for the in-calf heifer Costhorpe 1 Megan from &#42 W Coates Ltd, Cosby, Leics.

Reserve female title winner was the in-calf heifer Baldinnie 1 Kilearn 12th from J A Cameron and Son, Fife. She made 1000gns to A Dobson, Hereford. (Russell Baldwin and Bright). &#42
