Hot weather tries East Anglia farmers


A COMMENT piece about the record heat this month in The Daily Telegraph says farmers in East Anglia have given up. The region has had only half the rainfall of Lisbon.

It says that under the revised Common Agriculture Policy, Norfolk farmers have been “paid off like trawlermen” and the broad acres turned over to become “areas of special scientific interest” – scrub.
