Hudscales bulls bring in best bids
YOUNG bulls from Cumbria beef and sheep producer Willie Cowxs Hudscales herd pulled in the days best bids when stock consigned as part of a joint production sale from several Limousin breeders came up for grabs at Borderway Mart.
Heading the sale list was the 14-month-old Hudscales Omar, a son of Genus Hidalgo with a Beef Value of 15. He heads north to Lockerbie at 2900gns with David Cornthwaite.
Well known Cumbria suckled calf producer Henry Ridley staked his claim on one of the bulls with the highest Beef Value of 21 when he paid 2100gns for the 11-month-old Hudscales OJ. He brings in Canadian breeding being by the Titan-sired Broadmeadows Jiver.
The 11 Hudscales bulls averaged £1225.
Bulls from Windermere breeder Robin Holliday reached 1200gns for the 10-month-old Ruffland Oscar, a Goldies Glider son taken by P and S Morris, Lockerbie. The 16 young bulls averaged £685.
Northern Ireland bidders mopped up several of the best females from a consignment from Michael Grays Fleethill herd.
Leading Scottish pedigree breeder Neil Massie gave 1200gns for a daughter of the 8200gns Loosebeare Jacob to add to his Blelack herds continuing interest in Limousins. (Harrison and Hetherington.) *
