IBrefunds accountants

fee for milk calculation

NORTH Yorks dairy farmer, Geoff Bean, has had his accountants extra costs, incurred in providing milk records details demanded by the Intervention Board, refunded.

The board repaid Mr Bean, Salton Lodge, Kirkbymoorside, after it demanded records of milk used for stock feeding and domestic consumption.

His battle with the IB began early this year when he was informed of a visit by IB inspectors to verify his l995-96 direct sellers records. The board insisted the visit went ahead although it was informed that Mr Bean was not a direct seller but a wholesale producer.

At the time of the visit, all his milk records were with his accountant, who forwarded the required information to the IB.

Mr Bean invoiced the IB for the accountancy fee involved, plus interest, and was reimbursed with a cheque for £162. &#42
