uTHE planned merger between two of the UKs leading egg producers, Stonegate Farmers ands Thames Valley eggs, has been called off following the failure of the two boards to agree terms. The deal, which would have given the combined company about 20% of the egg market, was designed to combat falling egg and hen meat prices.
