GERMAN plant breeding company DSV has increased its share holding in Worcs-based Perryfields Holdings to 33.5%. DSV, whose main businesses include oilseeds, grasses and cereals, has associated companies in France, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Poland.
PLENTIFUL grass in the south-west pushed the average price at last weeks Honeybourne store lamb sale at Evesham to over £43 a head, up £4 up on last year. Lambs were stronger and of better quality, due to a better spring start. Ewe lambs were in particular demand, with some at £65.
TOP retailers have increased their hold on consumer spending. The top 10 now account for 36% of UK retail sales, compared with 26% a decade ago, according to figures out this week from Corporate Intelligence on Retailing.n
