• THE NFU is to press the European Commission for a derogation to prevent proposals to extend product liability legislation to agriculture.
Richard Vidal, NFU legal adviser, said that if extended to agriculture, farmers could face claims for issues which were entirely beyond their control. Ironically, the rise in traceability schemes could make it easier for an individual farm to be confirmed in court.
