&#8226 BARONESS Chalker, former overseas development minister, has agreed to be patron of the Send-a-Cow charity. About to celebrate its tenth anniversary, Send-a-Cow plans to hold a major fund-raising event in London next October.

Before the beef export ban was imposed on the UK, the charity exported in-calf heifers, semen and embryos to Uganda.
