IN BRIEF

&#8226 GOING to auction early next month Poughnhill Farm, near Ludlow, Shrops, offers scope to a variety of investors, maintains auctioneer Chris Jones, McCartneys.

The former dairy farm includes a seven-bedroom farmhouse, a bungalow, and a range of traditional farm buildings with development potential.

Most of the 143 acres of pasture are currently let for £7950/year although 45 acres will be vacated in March 2000.

"Guided at £350,000 the property could make an equestrian centre, remain as a residential property with most of the land let on a farm business tenancy with the potential in the future to revert back to an agricultural unit".

&#8226 CONTRACTS exchanged recently on the 278-acre Green Butts Farm, Cheshire, marketed last year.

"Interest came from farmers for the whole and residential buyers for the house with local farmers looking to build on their existing acreage," said Stephen Cheshire, Jackson-Stops & Staff.

Including a listed house modern and traditional ranges of farm buildings, the farm sold for in excess of the more than £1m guide price.
