IN BRIEF

uTHE long-awaited Food Standards Bill establishing the Food Standards Agency has finally been cleared by parliament and is up for Royal Assent next week.

uHEATHROW Airport has called in the NFU to help it get rid of some unusual international travellers – a flock of Canada geese. The airport has turned to the NFU because it wants to find a way to encourage the birds to relocate. Although the airport is used to birds – it expects there to be at least 10 species on the airfield at any one time – there has been a rapid increase in the number of Canada geese, which it now needs to contain.
