In-calf Simmental sets record high

A NEW breed record price of 10,800gns came for a Simmental in-calf heifer last weekend.

It came for one of the guest consignments from Somerset breeders Mr and Mrs David Mills at the dispersal of Dick Pearces Yanley herd at Ashton, Bristol.

Greenside Trixie Belle 3rd, by Brinkton Sovereign, achieved success on last summers show circuit with wins at the Royal, Royal Bath and West, Devon County and Royal Cornwall.

She was sold in-calf to Gretna House Supersonic and heads for Goole, Humberside, with Michael Brears and Son.

The Yanley herds stock bull, Woodhall Extra Special – male champion at the 1995 Royal Highland Show – also set the bidding alight, making 7000gns. He was finally claimed by Preston, Lancashire, breeder Michael Barlow. Extra Special is by Camus Vibrant.n
