Inoculant gives Na boost

SOIL inoculant E2001 from the US is claimed to boost available nitrogen by 168kg/ha (135 units/acre) if used according to the suppliers instructions. The nitrogen fixing bacteria/enzyme mix is carried in a maple syrup substrate which is diluted and sprayed onto soil three weeks before planting, says Tony Ive of UK importer ART UK, Petersfield, Hants. Each 205-litre (45gal) drum treats 226ha (560 acres) at a cost of about £35/ha (£14/acre).
