Intensive agriculture ‘threat’ to the environment

NATURE conservation measures are failing to stop a decline in protected species under threat from intensive agriculture and economic development, European environment ministers will be told later this month.

The Copenhagen-based European Environment Agency will tell ministers they must do more to ensure their environmental policies help the environment.

The agency will submit a report on 23 June to a gathering of environment ministers from both eastern and western Europe in Aarhus, Denmark. It will also cover other environmental problem areas.
