Israel takes Bedouin farmers’ land

HUNDREDS of Bedouin Arabs were forcibly removed by Israeli troops yesterday from land they had grazed for generations.

The evictions took place on the basis of rules intended to prevent Jews from establishing illegal settlements on the West Bank.

The Bedouin, who have long grazed a large area near the recently established Jewish settlement of Havat MaOn, were ordered off the land at gunpoint.

Havat MaOn was declared illegal last week and cleared of its inhabitants by 1000 police and soldiers.
