Ivory Coast gloom over cocoa

THE Ivory Coast has warned that the developing El Niño weather pattern could push
down its cocoa harvest down to 900,000 tonnes – up to 10% lower than previous
forecasts.

The International Cocoa Organisations latest forecasts of world consumption
and production suggests the Ivory Coast will harvest 1.205m-1.071m tonnes. This
range is echoed by local traders.
