Jellyfish gene to shed light on fungus


JELLYFISH could in future save on the use of pesticides and fungicides.

Scientists from Edinburgh, in Scotland, are using the luminous gene from a
jelly fish to light up tobacco plants when they are attacked by fungus.

Crops could one day gleam when attacked, so farmers might be able to head off
trouble.
