King’s Awards for ADF Milking and Teagle Machinery

Two British agri-tech companies have won the prestigious King’s Awards for Enterprise.

ADF Milking and Teagle Machinery were both honoured in the second year of King Charles’s annual awards for innovation, which were announced this morning (Monday 6 May).

Teagle Machinery, a specialist in agricultural machinery with more than 80 years’ experience, received the King’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.

Its market-leading Tomahawk range of bale processing machinery supports livestock husbandry, bioenergy applications and erosion control.

The award recognises the company’s remarkable growth in export sales over the past three years. Export sales now account for more than 50% of total revenue.

It highlights exceptional growth in key overseas markets such as France, Ireland, the United States and Germany, with recent expansions into India, Thailand, Vietnam, Chile and China.

Based in Cornwall, the third-generation family business employs about 150 staff and conducts all manufacturing at the plant near Truro.

Managing director Tom Teagle says the achievement reflects the entire team’s dedication, emphasising the importance of customer satisfaction and feedback.

Improved welfare

ADF Milking, based in West Sussex, was awarded a King’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation for its unique and innovative milking technology, ADF InVent – a patented automated vacuum control technology that improves animal welfare and increases milking parlour efficiency.

Dairy farmers using ADF InVent clusters have reported less teat trauma, calmer cows, higher milk yields and faster milk let-down, the company says.

Meanwhile, Lynher Dairies, maker of the iconic Cornish Yarg cheese and the World Champion cheese Cornish Kern, has received a King’s Award for Enterprise for outstanding achievement in Sustainable Development.

Established 58 years ago, the award program reflects the king’s commitment to recognising outstanding UK businesses, aligning with the legacy of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II. This year, 252 companies were recognised in the awards.
