Lady Edna sells farm

A LARGE Cheshire dairy farm has just been put on the market by local specialist Wright Manley.

Oldfields Farm, Pulford, near Chester, is being sold by Lady Edna Wilson, the widow of Sir Donald Wilson who died last year. She will be retaining the farms main house but selling agent John Lewis says consent for a new dwelling would likely be given by the local planning authority. "That shouldnt be any problem on a unit of this size." A farm cottage would be available to purchase or rent for the interim period, he adds.

Including 42,000sq ft of steel-framed buildings, Mr Lewis is guiding the holding at £4000/acre. Unusually for the firm, Oldfields is being sold by private treaty, although the agent says this is due to the vendors preference and he still thinks it would have sold very well at auction.

Mr Lewis says the response from local advertising has been extremely encouraging, despite the low milk price being paid at the moment. "People know the land in the county is good and size is all important to get to the 200-cow unit." &#42
