Lairds and farmers lobby on land reform

THE Scottish Landowners Federation (SLF) and National Farmers Union of Scotland (NFUS) are to propose major changes to Scottish land laws.

Andrew Dingwall-Fordyce, SLF convener (chairman), said the SLF favoured legislation to bring together all forms of agreements and give tenants security.

The SLF and NFUS have been at loggerheads over land let for arable cropping for several years.

But the SLF now accepts that tenancies in the hills and uplands need to be longer than those covering arable farms.
