Land reform tops Brazil’s agenda
SCOTLAND is not the only country where land reform tops the political agenda, according to The Guardian.
The Movimento Sem Terra (MST) movement in Brazil is the biggest direct action land-reform group in Latin America.
It is working in all but two states in Brazil to secure land for landless people.
The MST has encouraged 150,000 families to resettle on land over the last 15 years.
It is taking advantage of a law which states that unproductive fallow land should be handed over to landless people.
