Landini to set up UK sales and service team
Landini to set up UK sales and service team
By Andy Collings
LANDINI is to establish its own subsidiary for sales and service in the UK.
This follows news that the Landini franchise is to be withdrawn from distributor Motokov UK.
Based at McCormicks Doncaster manufacturing facility, where a new sales and service team dedicated to the Landini product line will be set up, the new operation is due to begin on Oct 1.
Landini and McCormick are both subsidiaries of Argo, the Italian industrial group which last year reported a sales turnover of £536m.
McCormicks sales director, Ray Spinks, says the decision to set up a direct sales and distribution operation in Britain is a continuation of Argos policy for increasing export sales of Landini tractors in markets where the company has such a distribution business – such as Canada, France, Germany, South Africa and the USA.
"The move will result in shorter lines of communication which should enable the factory to be more responsive to the needs of dealers and their customers," he says.
While the plan is for McCormick and Landini to share administration, parts storage and parts shipping resources, Mr Spinks insists that, in all other respects, the two businesses will operate independently.
"We are not going down the common platform road," he says. "Mainstream Landini and McCormick tractors will be genuinely different designs." *
