Latest SDF range offers wide choice of powers

Same Deutz-Fahr – has set

its stall out for the coming

year with the introduction of

a range of tractors which, in

their various designations,

covers a power bracket from

110hp up to 260hp.

Andy Collings reports

SDF has always been adamant that it will retain individual brand identification.

Over the years it has religiously promoted the Same and Lambor-ghini marques as separate entities – the main difference being found in their engine cooling systems.

But now even this distinction has been eroded after the launch of the Same Silver 110 and 130 (110hp and 132hp), and the identically power-rated Lamborghini Premium 1100 and 1300 models.

These replace the Same Antares 110, 130 and the Lamborghini Formula 115 and 135 models.

New styling has led to a low profile, steeply drooping bonnet and removable side panels made from Telene, a form of fibreglass.

Power comes from a liquid cooled, 6-cyl, 6-litre turbocharged engines which is claimed to provide constant power and torque characteristics.

Electronic engine management is designed to ensure fast throttle response and allow pre-set engine speeds to be programmed and retrieved.

Transmission comprises six main gears, each with three powershifts, plus three ranges to create a 54 x 54 box.

Four-wheel braking – the front wheels have discs in their hubs – is standard with air braking an option.

Rear linkage lift capacity is rated at 6.2t and an optional front linkage is rated at 2.1t.

Moving on to higher horse-power, out go the Lamborghini Racing 150, 165 and 190, and the Same Titan 145, 160 and 190 and enter the 160hp, 180hp and 195hp Rubin and Champion models.

Each is equipped with a 6-cyl, turbocharged and intercooled engine and enthusiasts will want to know there are differences to be found in the air supply for the Same and Lamborghini engines. Electronic management is included in the design. A 27 x 27 powershift transmission – three gears with nine shifts in each – incorporates a system which allows the operator to select the highest ratio within the nine to be used and then let the transmission choose the best of the rest to use in respect of loading. On the move ratio changes are automatic.

For direction changes, a switch can be operated to pre-select – the clutch is depressed and the direction of the tractor changes when it is released.

More driver perks are to be found in a system which enables up to eight operations to be pre-programmed and then implemented in sequence. Headland turns with reversible ploughs – where speeds are changed, the plough is lifted and rotated, and then lowered before tractor speed is increased – is cited as being an obvious use for the system.

Other features of the Champion and Rubin ranges includes a front suspension system which relies on the compressibility of gas to absorb shocks. Three gas accumulators are linked to two hydraulic rams on the front axle.

Sensors always maintain the rams in mid-position to create a 45mm movement in both directions, irrespective of the loading on the front axle. The operator can choose to switch off the system.

Rear linkage lift capacity is 10t and, if specified, a front linkage with a 4t capacity can be supplied complete with pto. &#42
