AS profit margins in the sheep industry come under further pressure, flockmasters need to be sure that they are producing lambs as efficiently as possible. One way of measuring efficiency is to calculate the cost of production for any system. National figures are available and will help to indicate where producers stand in the efficiency league.
For the first time at the National Sheep Event, flockmasters will be able to have free advice from Signet and ADAS sheep specialists who will look at individual flock performances and compare them with national average figures. Flockmasters should fill in the details on the form, left, and bring it to Sheep 98 where a cost of production clinic has been set up in Severn Hall.
