Limousin dispersal peaks at Carlisle
A MAJOR portion of Andrew and Ros Maxwells Brandsburton herd of Limousins was dispersed at Carlisle to a top price of 1600gns.
This was paid for a Cockleshell Empire-sired cow suckling a heifer calf. Brandsburton Isabel, with her January-born calf by the Cannon son Haltcliffe Highflyer, went to G C Rowson, Ilkley, West Yorks.
A Rake Terence cow with her fifth calf at foot, also by Highflyer, made 1550gns to A R and E K Afsari, Hexham. And Cornish buyer V J Exelby claimed the 1988-bred Brandsburton Daisy, by Grahams Vanguard, at 1500gns. She also had a Highflyer heifer calf at foot.
The day included an offering from M E Turner and Sons Keresforth herd (Doncaster) which reached 1400gns given for a 1988-bred Oakley Politician cow by D Ferguson and Sons, Carlisle.
