Lindy daughter makes 1150gns

THE dispersal of Ashbury Farms Crowbury herd at Swindon saw a Townson Lindy served heifer top the trade at 1150gns.

Crowbury Lindy Sietske went to local buyers F G Reade and Son, who run the College herd. Another Lindy daughter, a milking heifer that had given 3035kg in 107 days of her first lactation, made 1020gns to F G and D M Hall, Slimbridge, Glos.

A good trade for youngstock – maiden and bulling heifers – pushed prices to 650gns. In-calf heifer bidding was sluggish.

AVERAGES: 109 cows and calved heifers £709; 33 served heifers £626; and 66 empty heifers £442. (Norton and Brooksbank)n
