Live exports protestor wins £10,000 from police
AN animal rights demonstrator is to be awarded £10,000 today plus legal expenses after she claimed police unlawfully arrested her trying to stop live exports to Europe.
Angela Petro, 53, claimed officers imprisoned her three times, strip-searched her and damaged her wrists. Kent Police agreed to the pay-out, but denied the allegations.
About another 12 claims are outstanding from animal-welfare protestors. Police have already paid small sums of £900-£2,500 to at least three demonstrators.
