Low incidence of warble fly in cows
WARBLE fly infestations are absent or extremely rare in Great Britains cattle, according to Vet Lab Agency surveillance.
In a letter to the Vet Record, Paul Phipps and Colin Swallow, of VLA, explain that blood samples from 4910 herds taken for brucellosis and enzootic bovine leukosis are tested for antibodies to warble fly.
None of the samples from 164,000 cattle taken in 2000/01 proved positive for warble fly. A survey in 1999/2000 also found no warble fly positive results, they add. *
