MAFF hopes prices turn the corner
by FWi staff
SIGNS are emerging that farm commodity prices could increase during the next 12 months, believes the Ministry of Agriculture.
A MAFF spokesman told Farmers Weekly: “The news story we would all like to see next year is farm incomes are finally turning the corner.
He added: There are some signs that commodity prices are improving but there are other factors and we will have to wait and see.
One factor in favour of better prospects for farmers is that 2001 is the first full year of the governments Rural Development Programme, added the spokesman.
We hope this will be a positive experience for farmers and the ministry.
