MAFF in Doncaster police probe

THE Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF) is helping police with their investigation into Doncaster City Council.

Detectives are looking at a proposed £200 million property development involving a company controlled by Douglas Hall, the former Newcastle United vice-chairman.

It concerns ambitious plans to build a championship golf course, leisure, hotel and business complex and 1,100 homes on prime agricultural and green belt land. The investigation has already led to the suspension of the district Labour party.
