MAFF to reveal tested food brands

The Ministry of Agriculture is to reveal the brand names of foodstuffs tested for safety and nutritional quality by government scientists.

The ministry has always refused to divulge names in the past on the grounds of commercial confidentiality.

The Food and Drink Federation said the policy would give the public a potentially misleading impression when only some of the brands available were tested and no comment was passed on the others.
