Make supermarkets take their share of the blame
AS farmers we can keep talking about how bad things are, blaming the strength of Sterling, Tony Blair etc.
One of the major factors is the buying power of the supermarkets.
If farmers were to stick together and starve the supermarkets of produce for a set week, say the first week in May, then I think they might begin to feel a bit less powerful and consider paying a realistic price for the produce they sell.
A better idea would be for an organization called the national farmers union to buy shares in one of the lesser supermarkets.I think many farmers would buy shares,by way of diversifing.
This would enable farmers to take on the likes of Tesco and beat them.
One more point: Could those mindless people who put stickers in their Toyotas and other imported things please stop doing it.
It does nothing to encourage those who work for Rover cars to buy British bacon!
