Make your mark when fertilising

INTENDED for grassland farmers, the new Foam Align bout marker from Portek is said to enable improved timeliness of fertiliser application, through allowing it to be applied immediately after cutting or grazing, without having to wait for sufficient regrowth for wheel marks to be visible.

The marker is mounted on the tractor and plugged into its electrical system. When switched on it automatically places blobs of white foam at regular intervals behind the machine. A red dye added to the foam is said to further increase visibility, stated to be particularly useful when applying fertiliser to arable stubbles. A 25-litre tank is said to hold sufficient concentrate and water to cover up to 30 acres between refills.

Price of the Foam Align bout marker is £229 (01539-722628).
