Manitou introduces new telehandler to Sima crowds

Manitou took the opportunity to show off a new telehandler to its home crowd at the SIMA show in Paris.

With its 3.5t capacity and 9.6m lift height, the MLT 1035 L-LSU is targeted at straw contractors looking for a high-reach bale-stacking machine and, for this purpose, is equipped with a three-stage boom and frame-levelling facility.

It is fitted with the firm’s new cab that will run out across the full range later this year. The same frame as before plays host to a redesigned interior with ‘racy’ white and chrome analogue gauges, adjustable steering column and mushroom-topped JSM joystick.

One control

Dubbed ‘Joystick Shift and Move’ the one control handles all hydraulic functions as well as the direction shuttle and gear changes (when the optional 6-speed powershift is fitted).

It’s even got four wipers – one for the roof, one for the right side window, one for the rear and, of course, one at the front.

A 101hp Perkins four-cylinder turbo powers the torque-converter transmission. However, to meet the latest round of emissions rules, this will soon be replaced by a common-rail unit capable of running on 20% biodiesel.
