Massacre over stolen geese

AN axe-wielding farmer in northwestern China has hacked nine people to death in a dispute over 10 stolen geese. Three other people were injured in the attack.

The farmer, Yang Mingxin, 39, then attempted suicide by drinking insecticide and hanging himself after the massacre, but was taken to hospital and survived.
