Matbro reloads shovels

MATBRO used the Irish National Ploughing Championships to mark a return to loading shovel production with its LS350-170 Contractor.

Developed to keep up with high output forage harvesting equipment, the LS350-170 offers more horsepower and weight than the previous LS350-Agri Special.

"At only 9t, our older 150hp LS350 lacked the weight to push heavy loads of grass into a clamp," explains Matbros Danny OConnor. "The new version weighs in at 11t and has limited slip differentials for improved traction and, to counter the extra weight, power is up to 170hp."

The LS350-170 uses John Deeres 170hp, 6.1-litre Power-Tech engine coupled to a torque converter/powershift transmission. Six forward and three reverse speeds are offered, with a kickdown function between 3rd-2nd and 2nd-1st gears.

This kickdown effect can be activated from a steering column-mounted shuttle lever, and also through the loaders joystick control.

Loading capacity extends to a 2.0cu m bucket, with a max load over height of 2.73m (9ft). List price of the LS350-170 is £76,000.
