McCormick gains five more dealers
McCormicks advance into the UK tractor market has taken another step forward. The company has appointed four leading farm machinery dealers covering the east of England with a total of 13 branches, plus the appointment of what is reputed to be Scotlands largest machinery dealer, George Sellar & Son, which has nine branches.
The appointments follow a multi-franchise agreement which will see the George Sellar, Kirby, Manns, Marsh and Seward dealerships holding the franchises for McCormick, Valtra and Claas machinery.
The new appointments add weight to McCormicks claims that it intends to have a UK-wide 50-dealer network established by early January – just one year after its inauguration.
The company also says it is making strides in its establishment of a European dealer network, with plans reported to be well advanced.
• McCormick Tractors Internat-ional was created as part of an EC ruling designed to reduce the impact of the Case/New Holland merger. The EC ruled the Case Doncaster plant should be sold to a new tractor manufacturer. *
