SCOTCH Premier Meat, the meat processing arm of the ANM Group, has launched a new service for farmers that should enhance price transparency.
Suppliers of the groups Inverurie meat plant can work out the value of their cattle before they leave the farm by logging onto its web-site at goanm.co.uk and using the sites calculator.
By entering the deadweight of each animal and its expected killing-out percentage the calculator will estimate what each animal is worth at that weeks deadweight price.
A separate table gives deductions applicable for each animal, including commission, insurance, levy and vet inspection charges, so an estimate of carcass value can be made. *
